
Pelvic Floor & More for Health Professionals - Sat 6th Sep 2025

This is a 1.5 day course is suitable for registered Health Professionals that would like to offer vaginal pelvic floor muscle assessment as a new skill within their scope of practice. It is also suitable for professionals that would like refresher training in vaginal pelvic floor examination. Our course has a strong focus on postnatal considerations and is suitable to pair up with 'Natal Foundations Level 1' if you are a Health Professional.
Why learn pelvic floor examination skills?
Women presenting with symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction require a detailed assessment and examination. Internal pelvic floor assessment is the gold standard way to assess how the pelvic floor muscles and connective tissue within the pelvis are working.
Learning outcomes:
On completion of 'Pelvic Floor & More' you will be able to:
Understand the requirements and considerations to comply with professional standards and consent for this type of examination
Screen for pelvic floor dysfunction within your subjective history taking.
Perform external palpation of the pelvic floor muscles
Perform a vaginal examination to assess pelvic floor function
Review the role of the pelvic floor muscles in relation to normal bladder and bowel function
Understand further the impact of childbirth related trauma to the pelvic floor short and long term.
Empower women with evidence based education and advice relating to pelvic floor function
Consider and implement an initial pelvic floor exercise programme
(Sunday 4th September is the LIVE face to face teaching day and you will receive your E-Learning modules 1 week before this date).

How do you teach pelvic floor assessment?
We use pelvic models, simulators, and peer physical examination (PPE). Peer physical examination is not compulsory or expected. If you choose to participate in peer physical examination written consent will be recorded. Each course participant will be expected to perform at least one observed pelvic floor examination on a simulator or real life model to gain course certification.
What are the pre course requirements?
All Health Professionals attending this course must be actively working under a regulating Health Professional Body and hold appropriate indemnity insurance.
